Himachal Pradesh: Braille EVMs to aid 3,047 voters

SHIMLA: In Himachal Pradesh, 3,047 visually-impaired voters   would be able to exercise their vote in the byelections  thanks to a Braille signage feature added with the electronic  voting machines (EVMs).
Speaking on the issue, Himachal   Pradesh chief electoral officer C Palrasu said instructions  have been given to district officials to make special  arrangements to facilitate voting for visually impaired  people across the state.

 
He added that 2,718 visually impaired voters have been identified in Mandi parliamentary constituency, with 88 in Bharmaur constituency, 78 in Lahaul-Spiti, 74 in Manali, 140 in Kullu, 128 in Banjar, 183 in Ani, 287 in Karsog, 84 in Sundernagar, 157 in Nachan and 313 in Siraj. There are 127 visually-impaired voters in Jogindernagar constitutency, 194 in Mandi, 199 in Balh, 160 in Sarkaghat, 286 in Rampur and 140 in Kinnaur constituency.
The chief electoral officer also added on the occasion that 329 visually impaired voters have been identified for the byelections to be held in three assembly constituencies, which include 125 in Arki, 129 in Jubbal-Kotkhai and 75 visually impaired voters in Fatehpur.
