Himani Bundela, who is visually impaired, is a teacher at Kendriya Vidyalaya in Agra. The 25-year-old revealed that she would use the KBC prize money to start an inclusive coaching centre where differently-abled and other kids can study together.

Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC) season 13 was launched a week ago and the show has already got its first crorepati. Himani Bundela took over the hot seat on Monday (August 31) and crossed the 15-question mark to win one crore. As per the channel promo, the 25-year-old, who is visually impaired, managed to win Rs 1 crore.

Bundela is a teacher at Kendriya Vidyalaya in Agra. She is passionate about Mental Maths and makes it a special learning experience for her students by calling it ‘Maths Magic’. Her KBC episode is slated to be telecast on August 30 and 31. In the episode, she will be seen teaching a few Mental Maths tricks to KBC host Amitabh Bachchan.

Bundela used to play KBC with her friends since she was 5 years old, She used to copy Bachchan’s style of hosting and troubled her friends by asking general knowledge questions to them, the 1-crore winner mentioned on the show. Last year, when the classes in her school turned online due to the pandemic, she started an initiative called ‘Kaun Banega Kendriya Vidyalaya Champion’ for her students.

When she finally reached the sets of KBC she couldn’t believe it for a moment and thought it was a dream. “Being with Bachchan sir on the set was a dream come true,” Bundela said. She added that she was really nervous competing with people who had better learning resources than her and had the advantage of quickly answering the question by seeing it on screen. But then, she also realised that she had nothing to lose and would only learn something new from this experience.

In the year 2011, Bundela met with an unfortunate accident due to which her vision was blurred. Even after multiple operations, the doctors couldn’t save her vision. Despite having suffered a traumatic experience, Himani didn’t let her hopes down and dedicated her life to her passion – teaching.

The new season of KBC has changed the format to choose a contestant for the hot seat. Unlike previous seasons, where contestants were to rearrange the options to win the chance to play the game, the new season requires contestants to answer three questions as fast as they can.

In an interview with the Times of India, Bundela revealed that she would use the prize money to start an inclusive coaching centre and said that the centre would have differently-abled and other kids studying together.

Kaun Banega Crorepati 13 airs Monday to Friday on Sony Television at 9 pm.
