Diwali celebrations for visually impaired kids

Diwali celebrations were held in the kindergarten centre of Saksham Society for the visually impaired on Friday.

The centre aims to train visually impaired kids so that they get integrated into normal schools. General secretary of the society Deepika Sood, social activist and executive member Seema Chopra, social activist Meenu Bagga, teachers and students of the centre had a gala time with the kids.

The kids recited Diwali related poetry. They were told stories related to Diwali and its religious significance. Sweets were distributed and light refreshment was shared.

KOLKATA: Bengal's Shuvendu Mahata has been  selected in the Indian cricket team for the visually  impaired T20 World Cup to be held in India  from December 6 to 17, 2022. The Cricket Association  for the Blind in India also roped in former India  cricketer Yuvraj Singh as the brand ambassador for the 3rd  edition of T20 World Cup.

Gurugram-based legal edtech company LawSikho has announced 100 percent scholarships for 500 persons with disabilities (PWD). The candidates who complete the courses successfully will be co-certified by National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC). 

Law graduates and law students will take an online admission test to decide who is eligible for the scholarships, which will cover LawSikho’s test prep courses for government jobs, upskilling courses focused on jobs in the private sector, and remote freelance work courses focused to international markets like US, UK and Canada.

A visually challenged lawyer from Madurai filed a PIL plea seeking a direction to the State to bring out the Braille version of Thirukkural in Tamil and English

Taking note of the fact that the Central Institute of Classical Tamil, Chennai, is going to distribute 45 ‘Sanga Ilakkiya Noolgal’ and ‘Thirukkural’ in Braille format free of cost to visually challenged persons, the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court appreciated the steps taken by authorities.
