PFB expresses concern for delay in appointment and transfers of visually impaired persons

Ferozepur, September 22, 2022:  The disabled section is still deprived of social development, said Anil Gupta, General Secretary, Progressive Federation for the Blind (PFB) Ferozepur Unit, expressing concern over the delay in appointment and transfers of visually impaired persons.

Anil Gupta expressing his concern said, the appointment of 6 blind persons in the Local Govt department are still not in the list of officials of this department  even though these candidates have fulfilled all the conditions as per the rules and have got the documents verified four times.

He said, we have even approached the Chief Minister and the concerned Minister Inderjit Sigh Nijjar but without any satisfactory reply.

He further said, one a grade four employee, Juber Ahmed, asked for a transfer from Jalandhar to Ferozepur, which is still under consideration with the department. Similarly, Panchayat Secretary Rajinder Singh Cheema asked for transfer from Noor Mahal Nakodar to Ludhiana, to which no adequate response was given by the Panchayati Raj Department whereas a number of transfers have taken place during the year.

Gupta said, the department of Social Security, which is the nodal agency for the disabled, is responsible for these tasks and is not taking care of visually impaired persons.  Similar is the response from the politicians who too are not serious on the issue with the reasons best known to them.

He said, the tall promises that special attention will be given to disabled persons, before the formation of the government, have proved fruitless.

Making an appeal to the Punjab government, Gupta said, the visually impaired class despite being disabled must be treated as a part of the society and encouraged to stand on their own
