The Fonix Speech Group, an operating division of Fonix Corporation, announced the availability of Fonix DECtalk text-to-speech on screen reading software by Code Factory, a major producer of assistive software for handheld devices in the European and Asian markets.

Mobile Speak Pocket is designed for pocket P.C. and handheld devices running on the Windows Mobile operating system. The software allows blind and visually impaired users to perform a variety of computer operations such as working on word documents, spreadsheets, browsing the internet, managing contacts and accessing calendar.

Fonix DECtalk technology, which is specifically designed for limited-memory devices, enables users to hear words and phrases in an understandable, accurate text-to-speech form in multiple languages. Users can choose from three voices (male, female, and child) and can even change their pitch and speed.

Mobile Speak Pocket is now available through Code Factory's distributor network across 50 countries.
