Time to draw up a Spiritual Blueprint?

By Payal Jethra

Are distressing situations overpowering you day in and day out? Do you perhaps want to get a feel of a peaceful and powerful experience but don’t know how to budget those overwhelming emotions that run you over making you feel like you’re losing control despite having read and absorbed spiritual texts?

What does a Spiritual Budget Do?

We all leverage upon a daily financial budget to keep our spending in check and ensure our savings are on track for the future. This ensures
We don’t spend money we don’t have
It helps prepare for emergencies
It helps in performance evaluations so as to realign the cash flow
It helps shed light on bad spending habits

I may categorize a personal budget to balance between expenses of

  • Housing
  • Transportation
  • Food
  • Utilities
  • Clothing
  • Medical/Healthcare
  • Insurance

Similarly, a written, Spiritual Blueprint is a spiritual Planning Tool that allows me to plan how many thoughts I will spend or save. It also allows me to track my spending habits. How many thoughts do I intend to spend on remembering and being with God? 2000? Do I want to create 390 thoughts about a friend who refused to share his class notes with me? Would I rather focus my energy on looking for support elsewhere or find another way to fetch those class notes for myself? Is my head throbbing with a million thoughts all at once? How about allocating an hour or two to relishing “Silent Time?”

Though making a budget may not sound like the most exciting activity (and for some, it's downright scary), it's an important part of keeping our spiritual health in order. That's because budgets rely on balance. If we spend less in one area, we can spend more in another, save that thought for an apparently large situation. Build a "rainy day" fund, increase savings, or invest in building Spiritual wealth.

Step 1- Set a Spiritual Goal

How long have I lived in ignorance? Now that I have been connected to the Power House, I have a choice whether or not to heed the Pearls of Wisdom shared by the Spiritual Consultant on Managing my Karmic Account or laying back and let myself be run over by overwhelming desires. Do I leverage upon the wee hours of the day to meditate? Am I even aware of my monkey mind and what quality of thoughts it is continually creating? Of the 24 hours during One Divine Day, how many seconds, minutes and hours do I allot to connecting with my inner self?

Step 2- Identify and distinguish Positive & Negative thoughts

She called to share about how she feels her Manager overloads her with assignments. Well, I say ‘Hanji’ because I listen non-judgmentally which is not to say, I jump in and hop into the bandwagon against the Manager. My mind reminds me of how each and every thought, word and action of mine is spiritually designated. God has showered me with abundant unconditional acceptance, love and Knowledge. He’s done His bit….me? I choose where to put my every thought, time and energy. Not choosing to allocate a minute letting my mind create wasteful thoughts about a Manager who is a character, enacting his role in The Drama called Life, I put a full stop, zip up my spiritual wallet so as not to allow in any fake currency to find its way in. To settle and sort thoughts, I draw heavily on The Power of Silence. Sukey and Elizabeth Novogratz, authors of the book Just Sit: A Meditation Guide for People Who Know They Should But Don’t, encourage people to take time each day for reflection. Silence isn’t just about the absence of noise; it’s about getting ourselves to slow down. It’s a tool for increased emotional regulation.

“Duke Medical School’s Imke Kirste recently found that silence is associated with the development of new cells in the hippocampus, the key brain region associated with learning and memory. Physician Luciano Bernardi found that two-minutes of silence inserted between musical pieces proved more stabilizing to cardiovascular and respiratory systems than even the music categorized as “relaxing. This kind of silence is about resting the mental reflexes that habitually protect a reputation or promote a point of view. It’s about taking a temporary break from one of life’s most basic responsibilities: Having to think of what to say”. Source-https://hbr.org/2017/03/the-busier-you-are-the-more-you-need-quiet-time?... utm_campaign=share&utm_medium=social

Am I even aware of the Spiritual power being handed down to me from God, do I also know where each thought goes? I find out by tracking where every thought goes.

Step 3- Designing the Spiritual Budget-

She’s dressed in purple today? (fact) What kind of a choice of color? (thought one) Is this appropriate? (thought two) .........FULL STOP
Two wasteful thoughts have already been created and I have the power to put a FULL STOP. That is another character playing his/her role in The Drama called “Life”. Again, who am I to judge. Every scene is perfect and accurate to the second. I steer my misdirected mind back to setting aside my thoughts. Let me create twenty positive ones and send that soul good vibrations to overcome the two wasteful ones my mind just created.

Ensuring no unwanted thoughts spill over while I let my guard down. In case the vigilance drops even for a few seconds, I quickly step over collect and gather those handful of negative vibes and immediately gather them into one compact energy. I handle my child-like mind with love and allow it the benefit of the doubt. It’s alright mind to slip off sometimes so long as you’re consistent and persistent in the calculation and estimation of spiritual goals.

Step 4- Withdraw one thought at a time, cautiously how much and when required-

Unexpected but conquerable situations and circumstances like COVID requires a thought or two. I open the Locker, pick and choose, economically, devote a few thoughts.
Is my spiritual bank account overdrawn or do I have enough reserve to compensate for those unexpected but conquerable situations and circumstances that are seemingly larger than my Spiritual Reservoir? Because I have been persistent and consistent with attending My Master’s Classes at The University of God, because I continue to fill my mind and soul with His teachings, practice meditation so much that my Spiritual Locker Overflows. Now, come what may, I have Set energy aside to face these so I can afford them without going into spiritual debt. I set aside a jar by my office desk with a bowlful of coins beside it. As the clock chimes at the end of each hour, I STOP, drop a coin into the jar each time I take a break, relax and collect my thoughts. Allowing them to settle down and my mind having refreshed like a webpage needs to be refreshed when it fails to download content, I ease myself back to tasks at hand, savoring every moment of what I do.

Step 5-: Look Ahead

Getting on track with a Spiritual budget can take a month or two. I’ve lived all this time without a spending plan, so I’ll give myself time to adjust. There’s no need to be afraid. Keep The Faith.
