Who is “The Single Rose” – Who is “Your Best Friend”?

By Payal Jethra

If you, like me are visually impaired, then I’d say all of us are “spiritually gifted. Want to know why? Because…….the one window of “sight pollution” is shut. This is an opportunity for us to turn inward- introspect; check and change. What is the one habit pattern you’d like to work on? How about connecting with “The Divine Charger”? – one whose energy is boundless, unlimited and vibrant!

Its quarter to eight and Diya is done for the day. She puts away the dishes into the sink and retires to the room, getting things ready for the next morning. In about a half-hour to forty minutes, she’ll turn out the lights and call it a day. Her ten-year-old daughter, Tina will soon be back and Diya looks forward to spending time with Tina chatting about her playtime with her friends in the neighborhood.
As Helen Keller put it, “The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched — they must be felt with the heart.”

Who do you connect with at the end of each day? Is sharing all about how your day a must for you? How do you know that the person you speak with on Monday will be free/available or in the right frame of mind to listen to what you wish to share on Tuesday? Haven’t you felt ill at ease when instead of being listened to, you feel you are being judged or given unnecessary suggestions? Would you want to know who Diya’s Best Friend and soul mate is?

“Throughout life you will meet one person who is like no other. You could talk to this person for hours and never get bored, you could tell this person things and they will never judge you. This person is your soulmate, your best friend. Don’t ever let them go.” — Unknown

It was only a couple of months ago that Diya followed the same pattern that we all do. Come challenge and at the drop of a hat, lift up the receiver to call Garima. At other times, send an email to her mentor in the hope of getting a solution on how to cope with negotiation, challenges in a professional assignment, the choice of Tina’s school and so on. Aren’t we all doing the same thing, day in and day out. Hardly has a situation arrived than we push the panic button calling X Y Z emailing A B C.

One evening while logging out of her desk at the office, Diya happened to read about the immense change that meditation- connecting with the Almighty has brought to the lives of “the chosen few. Instantly, she scrolled down and read on for an hour. She somehow felt that the information had been displayed right in front of her “at the right time, at the right place”. Lately, she had been feeling low most days of the week. The friend she’d call regularly every evening had married and moved to another state and their calls had become infrequent. Even when they did connect, Garima had other thoughts on her mind and was not able to listen to Diya openly as before.

The mentor who had been available to her on email had started an online retail business and had been very late in responding to her emails. Although Diya understood the genuine intention behind both, she didn’t want to push but at the same time was looking for a 24x7 dependable soul mate.

A week to ten days into the online meditation course she signed for, Diya discovered this new soulmate who is As right as rain. Her world has changed forever for the better! She realized how like all of us, she had been putting the cart before the horse. After the introduction to the divine energy we’ve all been referring to as “God”, Diya dedicated her time and energy to nurturing, growing and strengthening the consistent meetings with God, several times a day, keeping the energy flowing and the light glowing within. The deeper the connect grew, the more she reveled in experiences of Him being a father, a mother, a soul mate and friend, a teacher, mentor and guide, a friend or a child, molding into any relation she chooses to experience.

After dinner around half-past seven and before Tina returns from play, Diya sits with a note pad and a packet of color pencils. To her best friend, she writes or sketches about how marvelous Monday began- with her opening her eyes to the stars outside her bedroom window. She steps out of bed thanking God for the wonderful day reminding herself of how blessed she is. She goes on to share how her state of mind has been through morning meditation, Yoga class and through morning rituals. She grades herself; A+ for having been through the day without letting circumstances or situations swing her state of mind, C+ for having reacted to Tina’s whines without allowing her own mind time to “stop and stir’’. Did she take a few seconds to fill the cup of tea with divine energy and positive vibes whilst she got tea and snacks ready for both of them this evening? And to her colleague who submitted the assignment ahead of time this morning, did she say a kind word for that would be an emotional deposit? She shares, sitting beside him, side by side, using pink for positive and brown for the thoughts and ideas that need to be worked on. The mind has the power to keep the Almighty in remembrance while doing daily tasks-be it personal and professional -through the day.

One and only one divine energy stays focused On the screen of Diya’s mind.

Now, there is no need or feeling of wanting to connect or depend upon another person.  have you connected with yours?
