11th World Chess Championships for the blind

The 10-day event, will see 82 players from 31 countries vye for the title.

, , Reigning world champion, International Master Yunus from Kazakhstan will defend the title. There will be 16 other international masters, three international women masters and 6 FIDE masters among 45 international rated players who will take part in the event.

, , GTL the co-sponsors of the event, have specially designed chess software for the visually impaired which will be launched at a function on October 10.

, , The championship will be conducted in 9 rounds in swiss league format. The everyday pairing will be done by the computers and the game played will be recorded and distributed to the players in print as well as braille the next day as per international practice.
