Report Dignity Session 12

The 12th session of Dignity was held on 30th April 2017, Sunday, from 11 am to 4 pm.
Venue: The Shiksha premises.
This session was attended by 10 beautiful ladies! This time our youngest member was the first student of Shiksha Ms. Palavi Adhikari! She is 12 years old going onto 13!
The topic this time was Public Speaking and Communication Skills!
The major part of this session was conducted by Preeti Monga. This was a most interactive session with each participant actively asking specific questions regarding public speaking. This was most relevant as some of the girls are now successful and are at various times asked to speak on stage to motivate or inform the general public regarding disability!
Communication within professional and personal circles was also spoken about. And there was a lot of inter sharing of experiences from which everyone took   cues and tips to better their communication skills for better  relationship building both on personal and professional fronts!
Developing the inner self and developing a habit of constant learning was stressed upon by Preeti.
In fact all important aspects were touched upon around communication gaps around lives of the visually impaired.
Improving the Body language   and mannerisms that most totally blind people have were discussed in detail and how each one can assess her own areas in which she may need to improve.
Lunched was sponsored by Ms. Shoba and Mr. Sunil Kumar.
At 4 pm, we had to actually close the session, for there was so much more that the participants wanted to learn and to grow.
Preeti also shared the progress of Shiksha with the girls, and announced the intended plan of opening a hostel for working blind women and girl students of Shiksha. This was very warmly received and applauded by the Dignity girls, as they very well understand the urgent need of this service for blind girls/women! Ms. Swati Sharma will be referring her colleague to Silver Linings once the hostel is open!
It was a great session. So with a promise of soon meeting again, we all left with a smile on our lips, valuable knowledge in our minds and   our mission to live with Dignity strengthened!
