ITANAGAR, Apr 11: The identification and assessment camp for distribution of aids and assistive devices to hearing, visual, intellectual and multiple disabilities, concluded at Donyi Polo Mission School for Hearing Impaired on Tuesday.
The camp began on April 9 last.
Altogether 145 cases with disabilities (hearing- 91, visually Impaired- 25, intellectual- 29) have been diagnosed who are to be benefited with requisite aids and assistive devices like digital hearing aids, smart cane, android tablet, universal baille kits and teaching learning materials in the up-coming camp Phase-II to be organised from July next.
The team of NIEPMD Chennai, headed by the camp coordinator Hari Mathi, NIEPMD consultant M Ramakrishnan, S K Warshong, orientation & mobility instructor-CRC-Shillong and M Nongrum MTS (Consultant) CRC-Shillong along with the faculty of the school, visited the various institutions in the capital complex working for the intellectual impairment and multiple disabilities on Tuesday for identification & assessment of the children with special needs at their door steps as many of them could not turn up on the day of the camp.
School Principal H Sharma extended thanks and gratitude to the team of NIEPMD, Chennai & CRC-Shillong for their noble services in the larger interest of the differently-abled children of the state and appealed them to provide the assistive devices at the earliest.
