VADODARA: She was the first and the only visually-impaired student to appear for the SSC exams using a laptop in the state. Now, Vadodara-based Yesha Makwana achieved yet another feat as she ranked first in the state among all the visually-impaired students who took the board exams. Makwana, a student of Web Memorial School, scored 85.2%.
The blind students are given special laptops with voice assistant features.
“It became possible due to the unflinching support of my parents and the teachers of Samaj Suraksha Sankul who motivated me to give my best. I am delighted,” said Makwana, whose school is a part of the education project of Deepak Foundation’s Sankul School and Resource Centre.
Makwana’s ambition is to join the civil services and become an IAS officer.
