The National Institute for the Empowerment of Persons with Visual Disabilities (Divyangjan), has the onerous responsibilities of opening up new and challenging training and employment opportunities for the visually impaired. Against this backdrop, the Institute is launching skill development courses which are NSQF compliant and are aligned for persons with disabilities. Free boarding, lodging, uniform, medical and library facilities will be provided by the institute to the PwDs during the training period.
Course:
1. Nursery Worker
Duration: 317 hours
Prerequisites to Training:5th Standard
Training Outcomes: The programme is aimed at training candidates for the job of a Nursery Worker in the Agriculture and Allied Sector/Industry and aims at building the following key competencies amongst the learner: -Carry out nursery chores -Carry out maintenance of nursery -Maintain health and safety at the work place.

2. Medicinal Plant Grower
Duration: 315 hours
Prerequisites to Training:5th standard
Training Outcomes:The programme is aimed at training candidates for the job of a Medicinal Plants Grower in the Agriculture and Allied Sector/Industry and aims at building the following key competencies amongst the learner: -Identify and select proper nursery site and construct nursery using approved procedures -Prepare nursery beds and carry out propagation using good agricultural practices -Manage nursery for medicinal plants -Undertake cultivation practices for medical plants -Harvest and post-harvest management -Undertake basic market related activities for medicinal plants. -Practice health and safety at the work place.
3. Organic Grower
Duration: 312 hours
Prerequisites to Training:5th Standard
Training Outcomes:The programme is aimed at training candidates for the job of an Organic Grower in the Agriculture and Allied Sector/Industry. After completion of the training, participants will be able to : -Undertake planning for organic farming -Seed selection and treatment under organic farming -Soil nutrient management under organic farming -Weed control under organic farming -Irrigation management under organic farming -Integrated pest and disease management under organic farming -Harvest and post harvest management under organic farming -Undertake quality assurance and certification in organic farming -Undertake business of organic farming -Maintain health and safety at the work place and in its surroundings.
4. Mushroom Grower
Duration: 317 hours
Prerequisites to Training:8th Standard
Training Outcomes:The programme is aimed at training candidates for the job of a Mushroom Grower in the Agriculture and Allied Sector/Industry and aims at building the following key competencies amongst the learner: -Identify and arrange resources/inputs for mushroom cultivation -Undertake good quality mushroom production using appropriate techniques -Undertake basic entrepreneurial activities for small mushroom enterprises -Practice health and safety at the work place.

5. Vermi Compost Producer
Duration: 312 hours
Prerequisites to Training:5th Standard
Training Outcomes:The programme is aimed at training candidates for the job of a Vermi-compost Producer in the Agriculture and Allied Sector/Industry and aims at building the following key competencies amongst the learner: -Identify and arrange resources/inputs for vermin compost unit: Correct species of earthworm, the location for vermin beds etc. -Undertake good quality vermi compost production using appropriate techniques -Undertake entrepreneurial activities for small vermi compost unit -Practice health and safety at the work place.
6. Dairy Farmer/Entrepreneur
Duration: 332 hours
Prerequisites to Training:No entry level bar. 5th Standard pass preferably
Training Outcomes; After completing the programme participants will be able to : -Efficiently start and manage a dairy farm -Construct and maintain shed for cattle -Prepare and give recommended feed and water for livestock -Nutrients composition, feed requirements -Maintain health of livestock along with productivity -Understand and prepare forage -Effectively market dairy products like milk, curd, cheese -Ensure safe and clean dairy farm.
