Indian Association for the Blind (IAB) is working at the grassroots for the education, employment and rehabilitation of people with visual impairment and to achieve equality and full participation for the visually challenged. In line with the objective to highlight their talent in the dance form, we propose to hold an All India Dance Competition for the visually challenged in association with Amway Opportunity Foundation on Saturday, 30th November, 2013 in Madurai. This also happens to coincides with our stepping into 30 years of service to visually impaired brothers and sisters. This year IAB gets to partner with AOF for this most waiting event of the year, which is going to be organized in South for the first time.
All the participants and their guides/admissible musicians will be paid return second class concessional rail fare and for participants travelling more than 14 hours by train shall be paid 3 tier AC and all will be provided free boarding and lodging for two days.
Our objective in organizing the Competition is to bring into sharp focus the talents and skills of blind youngsters in performing dance activities in the Indian style—solo and in group. The Competition seeks to provide the much-needed media and national recognition for the talents of these budding dance artists and also, to bring out for the community the special accomplishments of the blind in this area, usually considered beyond their reach.

Rules and Regulations
1. Classical Dances of different States:
Classical Solo
I prize – Rs. 5000/-, II Prize – Rs. 3000/- & III Prize - Rs. 2000/-
Classical Group (Number of participants: 5 to 8)
I prize – Rs. 15,000/-, II Prize – Rs. 10,000/- & III Prize - Rs. 5000/-
Group Folk Dances of India (Number of participants: Minimum 5, maximum 10)
I prize – Rs. 15,000/-, II Prize – Rs. 10,000/- & III Prize - Rs. 5000/-
Free style - Group (Number of participants- Minimum 5, maximum 10)
I prize – Rs. 15,000/-, II Prize – Rs. 10,000/- & III Prize - Rs. 5000/-
2. Music – Both taped and live music are allowed. A maximum of three accompanying musicians (if applicable) would be allowed, who may also act as guide, as far as possible.
3. No film music or songs will be allowed.
4. Duration of the item: should not exceed 7 minutes.
5. Costume – Costume should identify the dance item.
6. Relevant description of the item for announcement needs to be sent in advance.
7. All participants will be awarded Participation Certificate.
8. Each institution can send entries for one or two of the categories listed above – Classical (Solo), Classical (group), Folk (Group) and Free style (Group).
9. Competitors should arrive in Madurai one day prior to the date of the competition. They would be provided an opportunity of rehearsal and stage-orientation in the actual venue of the Competition in the first half of the day of competition. The Competition would take place the same day in the afternoon.
11. A panel of qualified and eminent judges will evaluate the performance of the competitors. The decision of the judges will be final and binding.
