BGFI Virtual Session on Cooking

Blind Graduates Forum of India (BGFI) with their ideology of think different runs many projects like Experiential Learning Sessions, Knowledge Sharing Sessions, Mentorship program and so on, which benefits Blind  people in various aspects of their life like Education, Employment/Employability, Accessibility, Daily living
skills etc.
Due to current Corona virus Situation, we all are in lockdown, but we cannot keep our stomach and taste buds under lockdown. Many of us might think, how a  blind person cook or many of us might want to
learn cooking with blindness.
For guiding us on the subject of Cooking without Looking We have got a very eminent trainer Miss Payal Kapoor, who herself is blind and will teach us different aspects and methods to be followed for making
preparations and actually preparing food, how to deal with all sorts of challenges faced by blind person while cooking.
With this view in mind, we introduce a series of session on cooking 2 parts. In first part, we will learn about the preparation to be made before cooking . In second part we will learn basic cooking.
Date and time for the session:
 Cooking Part 1: Sunday 19th April from 5.30 pm to 7  pm.
 Date and time for cooking part 2  will be informed by separate communication. The session will be conducted on Zoom app which is available for PC, IOS and Android mobiles. Kindly install Zoom on your device to attend
the session.

 About the trainer:
Payal Kapoor is a Hotel Management graduate from Institute of Hotel Management and Catering Technology, Hyderabad, Payal worked at Front desk at the Krishna Oberoi before she lost her sight and hearing ability to a cerebral attack in 1992. Employed by the organization that rehabilitated her, Caring Aid for the Visually Impaired, the next six years were spent in giving back to the community of blind and visually impaired as a resource person, mentor and teacher. Making her way back into the hotel industry in 2007 with juSTa Group of Hotels & Resorts took her back to her industry of choice. Payal now works with Merquri Medica, which specializes in medical emergency, disaster preparedness equipment, and first-aid kits. training people in basic
first-aid and CPR is part of her new profile. Experiments in the kitchen, reading copiously and travelling to destinations unknown adds the an additional dimension to her persona.
What we can expect in Cooking part 1 session:
 Organizing a Kitchen, identifying different spices and grain, tools and appliances which are available for blind friendly cooking and many more.

Please note, for security reasons, all attendees must  have a basic knowledge of using gas or  stove and knife and try all methods taught in the session  under expert supervision.
