Children with disabilities now have smart classes

The smart-class concept has been introduced for children with visual and hearing disabilities at the government residential school for blind and deaf here.

Software Paradigms InfoTech Limited donated the necessary infrastructure to hold smart classes in the school, while Vidwath has specially developed 3-D animation classes in Kannada.

Radha, Deputy Director of Women and Child Development Department and R. Somalatha, Deputy Director of blind and deaf teachers teaching institute, said that Vidwath had developed the 3-D classes for classes 1 to 10.

Mathematics, Science, Sociology could be taught to children with hearing disabilities, while Sociology, Economics and Languages could be taught to visually-impaired children, they said. Ms. Radha said that teachers in the school can effectively train the children hereafter.

Rohit M. Patil, managing director, Vidwath, said that subjects had been prepared and pictorial narration, onscreen scroll will make it easier for teachers.

There will also be commentaries on each subject so that visually-impaired children can easily follow. Mr. Patil said that question papers on each subject had been developed so that the children could prepare for examinations.
