Concierto de Aranjuez - a concert in memory of Joaquín Rodrigo

The Saissymphony Orchestra, conducted by Klaus Maurer, will perform the Concierto de Aranjuez in a special concert for 40,000 people. The concert is a tribute to the music of Joaquín Rodrigo.

At the same time, a D.V.D. Shadows and Light which is an excellent introduction to the extraordinary figure and personality of Joaquín Rodrigo, will be shown to Indian students.

Joaquín Rodrigo was a renowned pianist and composer. He lost his eye sight at the age of three. Very early in his life, he started giving piano concerts. In 1940 he premiered his work, andquot;Concierto de Aranjuezandquot; in Barcelona. This work, of guitar and orchestra, became one of the best-known pieces of classical music in 20th century. The melodic piece, named after a town near Madrid, brought Rodrigo worldwide fame.
