DONATE MY EYES AFTER DEATH: ROAD ACCIDENT VICTIM

Mon, 02/01/2016 - 11:08 -- geeta.nair

When he was being rushed to the hospital after sustaining serious injury in a road mishap, he requested his family members to donate his eyes to a visually impaired person after his death.

This was the last wish of a Harekrushna Swain (29), youngest son of Baisnab Charan Swain of Narasinghpur village under Danpur panchayat of Derabish block. He met an accident on last Thursday at Bhubaneswar. He was an MCA passout and a faculty at a Bhubaneswar-based coaching centre. He met the accident while he was going to the coaching centre in a cycle and a speeding truck hit his cycle from back.

While he was being rushed to the Capital Hospital, Swain appealed that his eyes be donated if he succumbed to the injuries. And by the time he reached the hospital, he had died. The bereaved family members, respecting the last wish of Swain, communicated with the LV Prasad Eye Hospital and donated Swain’s eyes.

On Friday, the last rites of Swain were organised at his native village. “Though my son died untimely, he would remain immortal for donating his eyes aiming to give an opportunity for a blind person to see the world,” informed Baisnab Charan Swain, father of Swain.
