An amazing group of visually impaired youngsters catch your attention at the Pan-I.I.T. meet, at Bandra Kurla Complex in suburban Mumbai. They are handling tele-networking for Pan-I.I.T. meet and are in charge of answering your queries and helping out the delegates at the venue.

"We have been working with Pan-I.I.T. for about a month now. It has been a fantastic experience. Our job entails calling up people and informing them about the event. I.I.T.ians are very polite and interesting people to work with," says Arundhati Viswanathan.

Pan-I.I.T. association hired about 10 people from the National Association of the Blind to handle the calls and help out delegates at the venue. It has been good experiences to have them work for us, says P. S. Ramanathan, member of the organising committee.

For more than a month, this group practiced tele-calling at group leader Anandi Viswanathan's place and each was provided with a list of telephone numbers. It was a rigorous exercise for all but they were ready to face the challenge.

And let’s hear from a few of them what their aspiration and dreams are like. Aparna Nalkar, has always nourished a dream that of meeting President A .P. J. Abdul Kalam in person. And, thanks to the Pan-IIT organisers, her dream has been fulfilled as Dr. Kalam addressed the summit organised by the alumni of the Indian Institutes of Technology (I.I.T).

Latha is doing her post graduation in Hindi from Bombay University. She is a swimming and Malkamb champ. An avid learner of languages, she knows Marathi, Gujarati, Hindi, English and German. Her mission is to read Hitler's ‘Mein Kempf’ in German.

Arundhathi is pursuing a software programming course and hopes to work for I.T. biggies like Infosys or Wipro. Later she plans to have her own firm so that she can employ more people. She also teaches pranic healing and yoga.

They all agree that this stint has helped them build their confidence.
