English course

Wed, 10/21/2020 - 14:34 -- geeta.nair

As persons with disabilities, we face a number of difficulties on a day to day basis, many of which we breeze through with confidence, while a few others are a bit more challenging.
One of the biggest hurdles standing in the way of us achieving our dreams, is our inability to communicate fluently in English.
English Today, has become a necessary skill that we cannot do without, and which yet remains just out of reach and inaccessible for many of us. But, it doesn’t have to remain this way.
The Blind Graduates Forum Of India, (BGFI) is proud to collaborate with linguist Dr. Shireen Irani, who offers a fresh approach to learning English, that is not only innovative and fun, but also something that will easily stay with you, helping you to express yourself more easily and confidently in English. Here, you will not
learn the rules of grammar  in the bookish way in which it is traditionally taught in schools and English classes, but you will be encouraged to discover the logic behind these exciting patterns of the language, that will allow you to newly engage with English as your friend, and not as an obstacle.
If you feel that you find it difficult to spontaneously come up with basic sentences in conversational English, then this first course is for you. Here you will understand:
A.      When to use the articles ‘the’, ‘a’, and ‘an’.
B.      Whereto use prepositions such as ‘to’, ‘at’, ‘on’, etc.
C.      How to turn sentences into questions,
D.      How to use the many forms of a verb, E.g. ‘go, goes, gone, went’ etc.
E.      Any other issue deemed as basic by the instructor.

Some important points about the course:
a.      The course is limited to 50 participants only, registrations are strictly on a first-come first-serve bases.
b.      The course will be completely online, on Google Meet. The participants need not worry on that account, we will send step by step instructions to the participants on how to join the meetings.
c.      The likely duration of this course starting in November, is 2 months with one class every Sunday for two hours. The beginning date and timings of the webinar will be shared with the registered participants once they are finalized.
d.      There is no fee to attend this course. However, participants will be required to complete all the assignments given by the instructor.
