Despite deteriorating health and losing seven kilograms weight in a week, a visually impaired student continued his hunger strike on the seventh day a Regal Square on Sunday.

Arun Yadav, who has been on fast unto death with his fellow students staging dharna , fell ill as doctors examined his condition.

While Arun called his condition "starting to feel weak," his supporters said he has become extremely weak and has lost seven KGs so far.

Doctors have advised him to eat something as his body has become weak , but he is determined to continue until the government accepts our demands," said Arun's colleague at the protest.

Different political parties visited the venue of the protest including workers of Congress and Aam Adami Party in support of the students.

Students alleged that Social Justice Department joint director Pramila Vajpai did not turn up at the spot even after she assured the students of a meeting on Sunday evening.

Vajpai could not be reached for comments.

Qualified visually impaired students have been on hunger strike demanding equal job opportunities for them in government sector as per the legal framework.

Protesting students claimed that as per the provision, 2% jobs in government departments is reserved for visually impaired students which hasn't been awarded to the beneficiaries in the last several years.
