'Niwant'is an organization that helps visually challenged students in pursuing higher education after the age of 18.
These are mostly the blind children who are discarded as unwanted by their family members and the society, as non-productive and useless.
In last fourteen years ‘Niwant’ has tried to change the picture by putting them back in the social fold. It has helped in the ‘body, mind and soul’ development of the students, channelized their energy through Braille Library with 3000 books, 12 branches of ‘Vision Unlimited’ all over Maharashtra, core-teaching of all subjects through both mediums. There is a printing press that prints more than 2 lac papers annually and both the books and services are rendered free-of-charge.
Children are trained by Shiamak Group, they dance, draw, sing, plant trees, donate blood, imitate bird calls, do yoga, Judo, play cricket and organize state level tournaments, do malkhamb, , skating, develop software, have formed Techvision – a software writing firm and have completed a paid project by BoardWalk – a U.S. based company.
They study various subjects in varied fields of science, commerce, computer, arts, law, and library science; learn foreign languages like German, Spanish, and Japanese. They produce top class results and excel in their respective career paths. They raise funds through their efforts by pursuing activities like excellent chocolate making, Braille card writing, making paper bags and organdy flowers.
Tech Vision is Software Division of Niwant. It got its first break from an American company called ‘Boardwalktech Inc
Currently, Tech Vision is competent in Visual basic, Java, Oracle, C++, PHP, MySQL, Web Design, Accessibility testing of User Interface, Web Accessibility testing and solutions. (USA 508, WCAG2 guide lines)
