Parents of three specially-abled children have made all efforts to seek admission in local schools but to no avail.

Now, the parents are demanding justice for their children (Right to study). “I approached Green Field School, Anand Vihar School and Aurobindo School (in Tulsi Nagar and Shivaji Nagar locality). The school management denied admission to my visually impaired daughter,” said Rashmi Kushwah, mother of 5-year-old Sargam.

The school authorities say the child would face problems studying with normal children.
When one insists, the school management has only one reply we have no seats, said a disappointed Kushwah.

Sargam has still not managed to secure admission in any school.
“The school principal said we can’t take risk with your child and sent us back,” said Afreen Khan, mother Hazique Khan (9), who is hearing impaired.

Afreen tried to explain to school authorities that her son was hearing imapired not mentally retarded, but in vain. “I sought admission in Genius Public School and then at Avalon High School in Shahjahanabad area. I told them that apart from using a hearing aid, Hazique is also going for speech therapy but both the schools refused,” said Afreen.Hazique has also not managed to secure admission in any school.
Lalita Shakya is another disillusioned mother, whose daughter, Kumkum Shakya (10) is forced to remain at home — courtesy Seva Bharti Bal Vidyalaya in Govindpura that denied her admission.
“I was told by the school management that there is a different school for such children,” said Lalita.
She also tried at St Peters School in the locality but got the same reply.

Interestingly, all school managements claimed that they never discriminate against with children and maintain that non availability of seats is the reason behind their refusal.

“I remember parents of a specially-abled child approached us for admission in kindergarten around 2 months ago. Seats were full here so we referred them to our Kolar branch,” said Meera Yadav, director of Green Filed School.

Similarly principal of Anand Vihar School, Aruna said the school management had earmarked .25% of total seats for special children.

There might have been no vacancy in that class therefore admission was denied, said Aruna.
Shabista Faisal is the only lucky mother, who after trying in three schools managed to get her daughter Fatima (8) admitted in Seedlings Foundation School.

Shabista said she was turned away from Green Field School, St Francis School and Ding Dong School. “Schools that talk of welfare and social cause behave very insensitively towards children with special needs,” said Shabista.

Prof Rohit Trivedi, expert on differently-abled children, says that the first priority of parents having special children is to admit them to the nearest school to avoid inconvenience.

“Generally schools avoid giving admission to children with orthopedic disabilities as they would have to construct a ramp or make other arrangements for them, which is otherwise also mandatory for any school to gain recognition from education board,” said Trivedi.

One should understand that such children are very much normal and no extra efforts are required to teach them. The state education board and district administration should take action against such schools, added Trivedi.

Anil Mudgal of NGO Arushi that works for differently-abled children said Arushi is always ready to provide all help to any school that gives admission to a special child. Despite such facilities schools are shunning their social responsibility. A fresh case of dengue was diagnosed in Bhopal on Thursday.

A 40-year-old woman, a resident of Old City, was diagnosed with dengue. A total of seven patients have been diagnosed with dengue in Bhopal in 2013.

The patient is undergoing treatment in a private nursing home and her condition is stable. The sample of the patient was tested through Enzyme Linked Immune Sorbant Essay (ELISA).

The sample of another patient was tested positive for dengue through rapid kit. The patient would be declared positive by malaria department only after the sample is tested positive though ELISA.
The patient is undergoing treatment in Sharda Hospital, Bhopal.

The state government on Thursday transferred chief executive officer (CEO) district panchayat, Satna, as additional collector, Mauganj, district Rewa. Posting order of Dilip Kumar as additional collector, Mauganj, has been cancelled and he has now been posted as additional collector, Singrauli.
Also posting order of CEO district panchayat, Sheopur, Harprasad Verma as additional collector, Narsinghpur has been cancelled.

The state government on Thursday cancelled order for posting of sub-divisional magistrate, Maihar, Abhijat Agarwal, IAS, as chief executive officer (CEO), district panchayat, Sheopur.
Instead, the state government has now posted Abhijat Agarwal as CEO, district panchayat, Satna.
The state government on Thursday issued orders for giving higher dearness allowance (DA) to employees of boards and corporations under the state government that are on deputation to various departments of the state government.

As per orders, the employees of such boards and corporations that are drawing salary under fourth pay commission would get 686% of the basic as their DA.
This would be payable with effect from January 2013.

Those employees of boards and corporations that are drawing as per fifth pay commission would get DA payable at 111% of their basic. This would also be payable with effect from January 2013.
Members of State Bank of India (SBI) Ladies Club distributed food, braille papers and syllabus books to the visually challenged students of Blind Relief Association, Bhopal, on Thursday.

Club president Anita Khara assured the institution that they would extend all possible support to them in future. The cheerful students, who had never thought of getting these items, presented a cultural programme on the occasion.

Blind Relief Association president Nasir Hussain also attended the programme.
