Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao has announced an increase of Rs 1,000 per month in pension for persons with disabilities, taking the monthly payment to Rs 4,116.
Addressing a public meeting in Mancherial district headquarters on Friday, Rao said the BRS government in the state stands for people’s welfare and is aiming to expand mining activity in Singareni Collieries. He accused the Opposition Congress and BJP of allegedly trying to reduce production in collieries for vested interests.
He maintained that the Congress has sold 49 percent of the company’s share to Centre, while the BJP is trying to dump it further by looking at the privatisation option, he said. Stating that coal mining is helping expand thermal power production in the country, Rao said the Centre is trying to rely on coal imports even when mining in the country is proving to be sufficient.
