ISLAMABAD: President Mamnoon Hussain on Tuesday stressed taking concrete measures to control the diseases causing visual impairment.

The President stated this in a meeting with representatives of Ophthalmological Society of Pakistan here at the Aiwan-e-Sadr.

The President said establishment of research centre for eye diseases was need of the hour.

He directed to prepare a feasibility report for establishing a research centre for eye diseases and assured of all possible support in this regard.

President Ophthalmological Society of Pakistan Professor Idrees Adhi invited President Mamnoon Hussain to attend the SAARC countries’ Conference on Ophthalmology as a chief guest to be held next year in August, which was accepted by the President.

The Ophthalmological Society’s Dr. Waheed Afzal, Major General Mazhar Ishaque, and Dr. M. Mazhar Qayyum were also present during the meeting.
