NASHIK: Rani Ithape, a visually impaired daughter of a farmer from the Paithan taluka of Aurangabad district who studies at the National Association for the Blind (Nab) at Nashik topped the school with 81.4% marks in SSC.
Ithape, who has been visually impaired since birth, wishes to pursue a career in teaching. She wants to spread the light of knowledge and help everyone — especially the visually impaired — just like she got help from others. Both her parents are farmers and her brother is pursuing his graduation.
I have been studying at the Nab unit since Class I and have been staying in the hostel. The teachers treated us as students. Instead, they nurtured us like their own children. That is why I would like to be a teacher so that I can ‘pay it forward’ to others,” Ithape told TOI over the phone.
Rani also owes her success to her grandfather as she remembers how he came to drop her said.
Ithape is one of the eight Nab students to appear for the exam. All eight students have successfully cleared the same. The students bagged between 74 and 81.4% marks. While Ithape bagged 81.4%, followed by Vaishali Ambapure (79.6%), Nikita Sherkar (77.8%), Arti Raghude (77.4%), Girija Pathve (77 %), Renuka Nimbare (76.4%) and Prateeksha Shinde (75.4%).
Three Covid orphans clear exams in Nashik district who had lost their parents to Covid, cleared their SSC exams. All three of them are boys and come from Satana, Sinnar and Niphad talukas, authorities from the women and child welfare department said.
