A helping hand

Thirty-year-old Thrijay Kumar was born sighted to a middle-class family in Vishakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. But he slowly began to lose his eye sight due to a condition called Stargardt Macular Degeneration. His father works in a travel agency and his elder brother has a corporate job with a leading MNC. Fortunately, his family was supportive and encouraged him to enroll in a mainstream school, with special attention from teachers.
At home, the family members helped Thrijay by recording the study material so he could keep up with his class. As he progressed towards higher education, he learned to use computers with the help of screen reading software, which aided him in independent reading.
Thrijay aspired for a government role as a Law Officer. He is pursuing an LLB degree and it was in this regard that he sought help from Eyeway. Thrijay has benefitted from the Eyeway WhatsApp messaging service, which keeps him up to date with useful information on jobs, trainings, technology and so on.
Last month, he struggled to find a scribe for his 5-day exams. Eyeway counselor guided him to download the Scribe Finder app and register for his requirement. In addition, the counselor also contacted the Helen Keller Memorial Association for the Blind which assured of arranging a writer for Thrijay.
Following our advice, he was able to find scribes from both the sources and seamlessly appear for his exams. Since Eyeway took charge of resolving the scribe issue, Thrijay was able to focus on his preparation without the fear of missing the opportunity of appearing for his examination.
