Visually challenged trio threaten hunger strike after being denied shelter

Mon, 06/02/2014 - 13:07 -- nikita.jain

Three visually-challenged persons, who failed to receive shelter in the premises of Odisha Association for the Blind (OAB), Bhubaneswar despite intervention of the High Court and direction of the district collector, have threatened to embark on a hunger strike in front of the office of the police commissioner tomorrow.

Mr Prakash Kumar Mohapatra, Mr Nilakantha Kalishi and Mr Rabindra Kumar Dalei wrote to the commissioner Dr RP Sharma informing him about their decision for the stir.

The trio, who was allegedly thrown out of the premises by some functionaries of the Association, charged that the IIC of Kharabel Nagar police station acted in a callous manner and deliberately overlooked the instruction of the higher-ups including the collector.
