Mangaluru: Despite poverty and 90% impairment in vision,  triplets from Dakshina Kannada district recently cleared the  chartered accountants’ foundation exam and are preparing for  the CA intermediate examination later this year.
Jayesh,  Jeevan and Jitesh are studying BCom (CA integrated)   at Alva’s College, Moodbidri, 33km from Mangaluru. Aged 20  and residents of Surathkal, their father is a daily wage  worker and mother a homemaker.
Alva’s College provides them free education, accommodation   and coaching. They have completed their grade 10 and PU education in Surathkal. The triplets scored above 90% in the PU examination. They stay in a single room in the college hostel.
The triplets said they have been studying for four hours  every day for the CA examination. “The environment at this  campus and help from faculty are a great boost to our dream   of becoming a CA.”
The triplets said it was their collective wish that they  pursue CA since this sector is never touched by people with  physical deformity. “Becoming a CA ensures more career  opportunities. Hence, we collectively decided to pursue this  field,” the trio said.
They wrote the exam without  seeking scribe’s help. “We want to write exams ourselves and ..
script our own success. Many times, we have been asked to  have scribes, but we have never preferred it. In CA and BCom  exams, we are given an extra hour to complete it. We are  happy about it,” the triplets said.
Among the trio,  Jayesh is planning to appear for the CA intermediate exam in  May. Jeevan and Jitesh plan to take the exam in November.
Anantha Shayana, assistant professor at Alva’s College and coordinator for the CA integrated batch, said the triplets were told they will not be imparted special classes during their undergraduation. “Though they cannot see the blackboard, they make notes effortlessly on what is taught. They are attentive and their notes are neater than that of other students. They have scored above 80% in the BCom examination so far,” said Anantha Shayana.
