We Care Abilities Mela

Brotherhood, Business & Community Foundation (BCF), UN Information Centre, and Indian Red Cross Society, Faridabad are jointly organizing We Care Abilities Mela from 11 to 12 November 2009 at Faridabad Chambers of Commerce, Sector 11-B, Faridabad from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

The local organizations AADI, Akriti, ERCSC, Tender Heart etc. are supporting in organizing the mela.

This will be first time in Faridabad when all the organizations working in disability sector will come together on a common platform and will create awareness on various issues of disability like prevention, education, rehabilitation etc. During the two day mela we have invited various organizations working for the welfare of children with disability from Faridabad, Ballabgarh, Palwal and Delhi. During the two days we have plan the following activities:

  1. Exhibition of abilities and products by children with special needs
  2. Free haemoglobin check up camp (to check Iron deficiency) for pregnant and would-be mother to prevent the birth of disabled child,
  3. Screening of films from India and Abroad
  4. Competition of cultural activities and painting

The purpose of the mela is to provide platform for demonstrating skills, creativity and potential of the persons with disability, disseminating information on the services, schemes, aids and appliances, avenues and opportunities related to jobs and self employment available for them,
exhibition of wide range of handicrafts, garments, products and “Celebrating Abilities.”  Films and documentaries on disability issues will also be screened.

The mela will be inaugurated by the Mr. Praveen Kumar-Deputy Commissioner, Faridabad.  Dr. Raminder Singh, Civil Surgeon, Faridabad, Dr. R K Sharma, United Nations Information Centre, India and Bhutan Mr. J N Gahlot, Secretary-Indian Red Cross Society, Faridabad, Dr. O P Bhalla-Chancellor, Manav Rachna Educational institutions,  Mr. J N Malhotra, General Secretary, Faridabad Chamber of Commerce and Ms. Amita Joseph, Director, Business & Community Foundation will also be present during the inauguration.
