XRCVC Inclusive Education Support Programme

Education for the blind and low vision has long been pulled either in the direction of the Mainstream or the Special. Often, students receive special skill training that is not effectively used in their education. On the other hand, students who are part of 'mainstream' classrooms end up missing the special skill training needed to make their experience holistic.

Furthermore, students with blindness in mainstream schools tend to miss out on understanding the finer visual elements to concepts they are exposed to.
For e.g. how many students with blindness get the opportunity to explore the difference between the beak of an eagle and that of a parrot?

The XRCVC Inclusive Education Support Programme (XIESP) attempts to bridge this gap!

Our experience over the past ten years has highlighted the need to provide a combination of special skills training along with continued support to ensure that the skills become a part of the student's learning experience in their mainstream classrooms.
This is what makes true inclusion possible.

If what you have read interests you, please see the Details Of The XIESP mentioned below. The Programme is open to students between Class 1 and Class 6, as well as to students above Class 6 who feel that they have not yet gained the necessary skills. The Programme is structured to offer training and ongoing support,
from October 2017 through October 2018.

Limited seats are available for this first batch of the XRCVC Inclusive Education Support Programme, so hurry! Get in touch with us at the earliest.
Last date to register is September 30th, 2017.

DETAILS OF THE XIESP:

The XRCVC has planned that the XIESP be divided into two parts spread across separate timeframes as explained below.

Part 1: Special Skill Training -

The programme will cover courses in the following Special Skills:

  4.  Nemeth Braille Skills
  5.  Geometry Skills
  6.  Mental Math Skills

These trainings will be delivered over seven days of intensive training in October 2017 i.e. during the Diwali vacation, and will continue from mid-April to early June 2018.

Part 2: Ongoing Support + Visual Concept Enrichment Sessions -

The students will participate in the XRCVC's ongoing support in the form of a monthly contact programme.

These sessions will be used to clarify doubts related to the above special skills that may arise during the regular school days, as well as to keep a check on the course objectives, and assignments given.

When the students visit the XRCVC, they will be able to build on concepts which they may be missing out on, due to their visual nature.

Timeline:

These monthly sessions will begin in November 2017 and continue till October 2018 through a monthly contact programme for one year.
