Sports Meet Held for the Disabled on Ground That’s Not Barrier-free

On Saturday, over 500 people with disability once again proved that they are no different from able-bodied sportsmen at the 15th State-level Annual Sports for Disabled organised by Tamil Nadu Differently Abled Federation Charitable Trust (TNDAFC) and Sri Bhagyalakshmi Travel Services.

Visually impaired to lead car rally in city on Feb 14

A car rally for visually impaired people will be held in the city on February 14. The event will be organised by NGO Round Table India for raising funds for the Institute for the Blind, Sector 26. This is the fourth edition of the rally in which visually impaired are made navigators. They are given route maps in Braille and have to guide the car driver who is unaware of the route and has to maintain a particular speed. The rally will be flagged off from the Institute for the Blind. 

Diff-abled Protest to Make Their Voices Heard

CHENNAI: Humdreds of members belonging to Persons With Disabilities staged a daylong protest in the premises of Ezhilagam, the building that hosts offices of several top government officials. They braved odds in continuing their protest throughout the day to have their demands heard, most importantly the demand to reduce the minimum degree of disability to 40 per cent to avail of concessions.
