Until English athlete Roger Bannister ran a mile under a minute in 1954, it was thought impossible for humans to run that fast. Within a year, another athlete broke the barrier. Today, most international runners can run a mile a minute, proving that “impossibility” was only in the mind.
A “sea of humanity” came together in the national Capital on Tuesday to make the second International Yoga Day a great success. While foreigners and diplomats practiced yoga at various locations in the city, a group of blind children from Karnataka showcased yoga and wowed the audience.

BENGALURU: What if you are chasing a treasure by road and all the directions are written in Braille?
In a fundraiser event held in the city on Sunday, visually-impaired persons directed seasoned drivers by reading out the instructions issued in Braille, so that they could reach the treasure and win the event.
Although colours have no meaning for them, students of a residential school for blind girls in Berhampur of Odisha celebrated Holi on Thursday with colours of joy.
BENGALURU: With the aim of promoting the advantages of swimming for people with disabilities, a free 10-day camp is being conducted at Sindhia Swimming Pool, Yelachananahalli, Kanakapura Road in the city. This is being organised by Astha, an NGO, and a support group ‘One Step At A Time’ in association with Karnataka Para Swimming Association. The camp, which started on March 9, will conclude on March 19.
BENGALURU: A visually-impaired dance troupe from Shree Ramana Maharishi Academy for the Blind, led by Dharmaraju, performed at the International Performing Art Festival recently.
Dharmaraju has been training students at the academy from 2009, since he completed his studies, with the touch-and-feel method and a lot of patience.
