Pune: Visually-impaired girls felicitated for winning national football tournament

Pune,11th June 2022: The Hindu Mahila Sabha felicitated eight blind girls and their coach Vikram Singh who brought laurels playing for Maharashtra in the national football tournament organized by the Indian Blind Football Federation in May. The Sabha honoured the girls and the coach at Mai Bal Bhavan by presenting them with certificates of appreciation.

Nashik: Visually impaired girl comes 2nd in her college

Nashik: Smruti Baragi, who is visually impaired, scored  83.7% in the HSC exam to bag the second position in her  college in the arts stream. A resident of Nashik, Baragi  is a student of the KTHM College. The youngest of three  siblings now wants to appear for the competitive examination  and join the civil services.
Baragi did her schooling  at National Association for the Blind and scored 89% in  the Class X. With both of her parents in the educational  sector, Baragi said, “The cooperation of my parents,  sisters and friends have helped men come out with flying  colours.”

PM Modi launches new series of coins with Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav design

New Delhi, June 6

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday launched a special series of coins that are also ‘visually impaired friendly’.

The coins of Re 1, Rs 2, 5, 10 and 20 denominations will have the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav (AKAM) design are not commemorative coins and will be part of circulation.

“These new series of coins will remind people of the goal of amrit kal and motivate people to work towards the development of the country,” Modi said while addressing the iconic week celebration of the Ministry of Finance.

Disabled candidates in soup over KPTCL’s stringent rule on scribes

In a move that will discourage thousands of visually and physically challenged candidates from competing for the 1,498 government jobs, KPTCL has introduced a rule that makes it difficult for such candidates to get scribes.

Officials said the stringency was introduced in the wake of the PSI recruitment scam.

In the Union Public Service Commission examination 2021, Rinko Rahee, who cannot see well from one eye, has lost hearing in one ear and has a broken jaw, secured the 683rd rank.

NEW DELHI: When 29-year-old Ayushi’s brother broke the news   to her on Monday that she had cleared the UPSC exam, it took  her a minute to register it.
“Honestly, I was expecting   my name in the list, but it was still a huge surprise to be   in the top 50. This was my fifth attempt. In the previous   attempts, I couldn’t even clear the mains. One gets  demotivated as it’s a long journey. But people looked up to   me with hope, and it helped me carry on,” Ayushi told  TOI, a day after achieving 48th  rank in the Civil Services Exam.
