School for the blind shows the way: Topper Kavita secures 90 per cent -

Mon, 05/23/2016 - 12:30 -- geeta.nair

Appearing for CBSE Class XII exams, students of the Institute for the Blind in Sector 26 passed with flying colours. Kavita Rani bagged the first position with 90 per cent marks. For Kavita, a resident of Ahmednagar in Sangrur district who stayed in a hostel to prepare for her board exams, the result came as a pleasant surprise. The institute that was earlier affiliated to the Punjab School Education Board had switched to CBSE in the last academic session. A firm believer in hardwork, Kavita dedicated her success to her parents and teachers. She plans on pursuing a Bachelor of Arts from Panjab University and later prepare for the Indian Civil Service. Studying for six-eight hours, Kavita’s success mantra remains sticking to textbooks and thoroughly going through each chapter rather than relying on guides and additional material at the last minute.

The second position was bagged by Anjali Raturi, a resident of Ludhiana who stayed in Chandigarh to pursue her studies and scored 89.2 per cent marks. For her, the biggest support came from her parents, teachers and two brothers who used to record notes and send them to her. She also thanked her writer for the exam for being patient with her. Talking about the students’ success, Principal J S Jayara said,”We shifted from Punjab board to CBSE for the first time with 14 students — eight boys and six girls — appearing for the exam and were happy to see each one succeed. As for the toppers, the girls have outshone the boys in ranks and each student has made us extremely proud.”
